This is pretty cool. But it looks super-weird from this angle (below).

Probably a wide angle lens distorting it some, but still.

This is pretty cool.

Solel y for the face there isn’t a mall insight. I think I might hate modified jeeps that see 0 offroading more than the Versa.

mall crawler = hard parking

Yup, n o different than an M3 with upgraded suspension, brakes, aero, etc. that will never see the track.

I bet Wranglers place 1st in model bloat with the only real challenger being the mini.

Really need to get mine on a track at some point, but I need to a few things to it that are gonna cost me some decent money and I’m not making what I used to.

I think it’s going to prove to be a poser-mobile.

Give me a two door Sport with a manual and a brown top tho...

Those were my exact words...

I like it, ordering for them opens in January/February. This could be the compromise “fun” and “practical” vehicle I’ve been looking for.

Yes, you do! The only things you need are better brake pads and brake fluid. Trust me.

Or do you have some big regular maintenance items that are due?

This ‘87 MJ Comanche weighs about the same as my Toyota MR2. ~2800-2900 lbs.

Would not be surprised if the Gladiator is 4500+.

Potentially. Around the time I was looking, my wife’s company (her team, actually) had some layoffs. She’s fine and not in danger, but always a bit of an uneasy feeling when that happens, so I had to let the dust settle on that.

I’m still browsing, but may lower my price point a bit on a JLU if I go that route. However, a yellow manual Rubicon just popped into stock locally...

I think it’s a cool “lifestyle truck”. They are going to sell like crazy with ridiculous markups and MSRP would be considered a discount. Expect to see them everywhere in Colorado and Utah, exactly like this including the dude

The Comanche was based off the unibody Cherokee and isn’t related to the Wrangler at all. Here’s a custom four door Gladiator. Still pretty big.

I think these are a good choice to consider for the midsize truck buyer...but man alive they are going to be overpriced and STAY overpriced.  People complain about Tacoma’s...Jeep says hold my beer.

Haha - true fact.

Will be interesting to see what the aftermarket offers. Thinking camper shells that work with or without the removable rear panel.

11/28/2018 at 11:30

Kinja'd!!!0

that...is an excellent point. This is going to make for some very cool camper shells. There are already some like from Ursa Minor and others

Kinja'd!!!

This will take it to a new level.  That being said, I wonder how it will work with bed flex.

Kinja'd!!! nermal > davesaddiction @ opposite-lock.com
11/28/2018 at 11:33

Kinja'd!!!1

According to my math it’s 7" shorter in WB than a Ram 1500 crew cab / short bed, and 8" narrower (assuming same width as a JL).

That changes to 12" shorter and only 5" narrower than a 2500.

From a value perspective, you’d be better off getting a low-options Power Wagon and taking a chainsaw with you in case you get stuck between trees.

I bought a Tacoma this year. I could’ve bought a Silverado for a few grand more, but I really didn’t want a full-size truck...

Kinja'd!!! Nothing > HammerheadFistpunch
11/28/2018 at 11:39

Kinja'd!!!1

Oh, definitely. A TRD Pro Tacoma can be had for what... low-mid $40s, and that’s top of the heap, maxed out price Tacoma. I think Jeep will buck the trend of the SUV version of a pickup being the more expensive model . I doubt you’l l get in a Ruby JT for under $50k to start with. I wonder if the 1% under invoice Tread Lightly discount will apply to these.

Kinja'd!!! WiscoProud > HammerheadFistpunch
11/28/2018 at 12:25

Kinja'd!!!0

I think the price will spike initially, then come back down. Due to the popularity of Jeep I don’t think you’ll see discounts like you do on full-size trucks though.

Kinja'd!!! HammerheadFistpunch > WiscoProud
11/28/2018 at 12:26

Kinja'd!!!0

That certainly hasn’t been the trend for the wrangler.  its only gone up in price since the JK debuted.

Kinja'd!!! WiscoProud > HammerheadFistpunch
11/28/2018 at 12:28

Kinja'd!!!0

I meant come back down to MSRP. I think they dealers will put a premium on it to start, but eventually it will be back to “normal”.

Kinja'd!!! HammerheadFistpunch > WiscoProud

ah, thats probably true. I wasn’t even thinking of markup, I just meant MSRP is outrageous .
